The Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner has a self-clean function to help clean the roller after use.
To start self-cleaning, place the switched-off cleaner upright on its storage base and hold the Mode button for approximately three seconds. The cycle takes approximately one minute.
Self-cleaning does not replace emptying the dirty water tank or removing hair and debris from the removable parts.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
1. Prepare the cleaner
With the cleaner switched off and disconnected from the charger:
- Check that the battery has sufficient charge.
- Check that the clean water tank contains water.
- Empty the dirty water tank.
- Make sure both tanks are securely fitted.
- Check that the roller, roller cover and filters are correctly installed.
Keep the roller, cover and filters fitted throughout normal self-cleaning.
Do not use hot water in the clean water tank. If adding cleaning solution, follow the manual’s guidance and the detergent manufacturer’s dosing instructions. Do not use a product that creates excessive foam.
2. Place the cleaner on its storage base
- Make sure the cleaner is switched off.
- Move the handle into the upright park position.
- Place the cleaner securely on its storage base.
Run self-cleaning on the storage base, rather than directly on the floor.
The upright position is used for self-cleaning. Normal floor cleaning requires the handle to be tilted backwards into the working position.
3. Start the self-clean cycle
- Press and hold the Mode button for approximately three seconds.
- Allow the self-clean cycle to run for approximately one minute.
- Stay with the cleaner while the cycle runs.
Keep hands, hair, loose clothing and tools away from the cleaning head. Do not remove components while the cleaner is operating.
4. Empty and rinse the dirty water tank
After the cycle finishes:
- Make sure the cleaner is switched off and disconnected from the charger.
- Remove the dirty water tank.
- Remove the lid and filter assembly.
- Empty the collected water and rinse the tank and lid thoroughly.
- Check that the float is free from debris and moves freely.
Do not leave dirty water in the tank between uses.
5. Clean the filters, roller and cover
Self-cleaning may leave hair, threads or stubborn debris that needs separate removal.
Filters
- Remove debris from the mesh filter and rinse it with clean water.
- Remove the sponge filter from its holder.
- Clear trapped dirt and rinse the sponge filter.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
Never operate the cleaner without its filters installed.
Roller and cover
- Remove the roller cover using its release lever.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Remove hair, threads and remaining debris.
- Clean the roller and cover under running water.
- Allow the roller to dry before refitting if the cleaner will not be used immediately.
Do not immerse the cleaner body, cleaning head or electrical parts in water. Do not use solvents, abrasive materials, hard brushes or metallic or sharp cleaning tools.
6. Store the cleaner after use
Keep the cleaner upright on its storage base in a dry location, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Before its next use, refit all cleaned components correctly:
- Insert the roller end without the lever first, then press the lever end into position.
- Align the roller cover with its slots and press until it clicks.
- Reassemble the dry sponge filter, mesh filter and tank lid.
- Fit the bottom of the dirty water tank first, then push the upper part into place until it clicks.
Cleaning and drying the removable parts helps prevent unpleasant smells and keeps the cleaner ready for its next use.
How often should I use self-cleaning?
Use self-cleaning after a floor-cleaning session as part of your after-use care routine.
Also inspect and clean the roller, cover, tanks and filters. The self-clean cycle does not remove every type of debris or dry the removable parts for storage.
What if self-cleaning will not start?
Check that:
- The cleaner has sufficient battery charge.
- The charging lead is disconnected.
- The cleaner is switched off before starting the cycle.
- The handle is upright in the park position.
- The cleaner is correctly positioned on its storage base.
- The tanks, filters, roller and cover are fitted.
- You are holding the Mode button, rather than the On/Off button, for approximately three seconds.
