If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner is leaving streaks, lines or residue on the floor, follow the checks below.
A dirty roller, too much cleaning solution or water left on the surface can affect the finish. Existing floor-cleaning residue may also contribute to marks.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing components, cleaning filters or inspecting the cleaning head.
Only wet-clean flooring suitable for this method. Follow your flooring manufacturer’s cleaning instructions and check that the cleaning solution is suitable for the surface.
If you notice scratches, persistent discolouration or possible damage, stop cleaning the affected area and contact Customer Support before continuing.
1. Clean the roller and roller cover
A dirty roller can spread dirt and cleaning residue across the floor.
- With the cleaner switched off, disconnected from the charger and upright, remove the roller cover using its release lever.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Remove hair, threads and trapped debris.
- Wash the roller and cover under running water to remove visible dirt and residue.
- Gently remove accessible debris from the roller compartment. Do not immerse the cleaning head or allow water into electrical parts.
- Refit the roller by inserting the end without the lever first, then pressing the lever end into position.
- Align the cover with its slots and press it into place until it clicks.
Clean the roller and cover after each use. If you will not use the cleaner immediately after cleaning, allow the roller to dry before refitting.
Do not use abrasive materials, metallic or sharp tools to clean the product.
2. Check the cleaning solution and amount used
Too much cleaning solution can leave a film or streaky residue. Excessive foam can also affect the cleaner’s operation.
- Follow the cleaning-solution guidance in the user manual.
- Follow the detergent manufacturer’s dosing instructions.
- Check that the solution is suitable for your flooring.
- Do not add extra detergent to tackle stubborn marks.
- Do not use washing-up liquid or mix cleaning products.
If you have used too much detergent or an unsuitable product:
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Empty and rinse the clean water tank.
- Clean the roller and empty and rinse the dirty water tank to remove remaining residue.
- Refill the clean water tank using the correct mixture.
Do not use hot water in the clean water tank.
3. Use steady, overlapping cleaning passes
Even movements help produce a more consistent finish.
- Push the cleaner forwards over a strip of floor.
- Pull it backwards along the same strip.
- Slightly overlap the next strip.
- Repeat using steady, controlled movements.
For stubborn dirt, use High mode on the forward pass if needed, then select Rapid Suction for the backward pass to help collect water.
Do not leave the cleaner switched on and stationary. Switch it off when taking a break and place it on its storage base to avoid water stains.
4. Collect remaining water using Rapid Suction mode
Water left on the floor can dry unevenly and leave visible marks.
- Select Rapid Suction mode using the Mode button.
- Make a steady backward pass along the strip you have washed.
- Check whether less water remains on the surface.
The modes cycle through Low, High and Rapid Suction. Check the selected mode rather than assuming one press always selects Rapid Suction.
If the floor remains unusually wet, follow the water pick-up guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
5. Empty the dirty water tank and clean the filters
A full dirty water tank or blocked filters can affect water collection.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Remove and empty the dirty water tank. Do not allow water to exceed the MAX mark.
- Remove the lid and filter assembly.
- Rinse the tank, lid and mesh filter thoroughly.
- Check that the float is free from debris and moves freely.
- Remove the sponge filter, clear trapped dirt and rinse it with clean water.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Reassemble the components and refit the tank securely.
Do not operate the cleaner without its filters installed.
6. Check for residue from previous floor treatments
Detergents, polish or other treatments previously used on the floor may leave residue that becomes visible during wet cleaning.
If the roller is clean and the cleaning solution is correctly measured but streaks continue:
- Check your flooring manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations.
- Confirm that wet cleaning and the selected cleaning solution are suitable for the floor.
- Test a small, inconspicuous area before continuing.
- Do not add stronger detergent or household chemicals to try to remove the marks.
If you are unsure about an existing floor coating or treatment, seek advice from the flooring manufacturer before cleaning further.
7. Assess the finish once the floor is dry
Avoid walking over the wet area, as footprints can leave additional marks.
Once the floor has dried, check whether the streaks remain.
If you notice persistent discolouration, scratches or possible damage, stop using the cleaner on that area and contact our team. Do not repeatedly clean the area in an attempt to remove the marks.
