If the roller on your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner isn’t turning, follow the checks below.
Hair, threads or trapped debris can restrict movement. Cleaning the roller and checking that it is correctly fitted may help restore normal operation.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing the roller cover, inspecting the roller or clearing debris.
Never touch the roller or try to turn it by hand while the cleaner is running. Keep fingers, hair, loose clothing and tools away from moving parts.
If you notice smoke, a burning smell, excessive heat or visible electrical damage, stop using the cleaner and contact Customer Support. Do not repeat the problem to record a video.
1. Check that the cleaner starts normally
The cleaner does not operate while charging and will not start normal floor cleaning in the upright park position.
- Disconnect the charger from the cleaner.
- Place the cleaner on a suitable hard floor.
- Rest one foot on the cleaning head to hold it steady.
- Gently tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button.
If the whole cleaner fails to start, use the “Won’t switch on” guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
Switch the cleaner off before continuing with the roller checks.
2. Remove hair, threads and trapped debris
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Place it in the upright park position with the cleaning head facing you.
- Pull the roller-cover release lever forwards and remove the cover.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Remove hair, threads and debris wrapped around the roller, including its ends.
- Inspect the exposed roller compartment and gently remove accessible debris.
Do not force tools into the roller mechanism or dismantle the cleaning head.
If you find visible damage or cannot safely remove an obstruction, stop and contact Customer Support.
3. Clean the roller and cover
Wash the removed roller and cover under running water to clear dirt and residue.
Do not immerse the cleaning head or cleaner body in water. Do not use sharp or metallic tools, abrasive materials, hard brushes or solvents to clean the product.
If you will not use the cleaner immediately after cleaning, allow the roller to dry before refitting.
4. Refit the roller and cover securely
An incorrectly seated roller may not engage properly.
- Insert the roller end without the lever first.
- Press the lever end down until it snaps into position.
- Align both sides of the roller cover with the slots on the cleaning head.
- Press the cover into place until it clicks.
Do not force the roller or cover. If either will not fit securely, check for remaining debris or incorrect alignment before trying again.
If it still will not fit, contact Customer Support.
5. Test normal operation
With the roller, cover, tanks and filters correctly fitted:
- Disconnect the charger.
- Tilt the handle into the working position.
- Switch the cleaner on and make a short cleaning pass.
- Check whether normal roller operation has resumed.
Do not leave the cleaner running while stationary. Do not test normal floor cleaning with the roller cover removed or reach underneath the cleaning head while it is running.
If the roller remains stationary, turns intermittently or makes grinding or repeated clicking noises, switch the cleaner off and contact Customer Support. Avoid repeatedly restarting it.
What if the whole cleaner stops or cuts out?
If the whole appliance switches off, use the “Keeps stopping or cutting out” guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
Do not repeatedly restart the cleaner if the roller appears jammed.
Still not turning?
Contact our Customer Support team and include:
- Your model and serial number.
- Your purchase date and retailer, or Morphy Richards UK order number.
- Whether the cleaner switches on and suction can be heard.
- Whether the roller stays still, turns intermittently or stops during use.
- Any unusual noise, display symbol or message.
- The checks completed.
- Photographs of the removed roller, both roller ends and the roller compartment, taken with the cleaner switched off and disconnected from the charger.
If you already have a video showing the issue with the roller and cover fitted, include it. Only record normal operation if safe to do so; do not repeatedly trigger a jam or recreate an issue involving smoke, a burning smell, excessive heat or electrical damage.
Our team will review the information and advise on the next steps.
