If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner does not appear to charge, follow the checks below.
The power supply, charger connection and room temperature can affect charging. The cleaner will not operate while connected to its charger.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Use only the charger supplied with your cleaner or a replacement supplied or approved by Morphy Richards for model 740002.
Make sure your hands, the charger connector and the appliance’s charging socket are dry.
Do not use a damaged charger or attempt to open the appliance. Do not leave the product unattended while charging.
1. Check the wall socket and charger connection
- Check that the charger is securely plugged into a suitable wall socket.
- Make sure the socket is switched on.
- Check that the charging connector is securely connected to the cleaner.
- If there is no response, test the wall socket using another suitable appliance.
Connect the charger directly to a suitable wall socket rather than an extension lead.
Do not use a different charger simply because its connector fits.
Try reconnecting the charger
If charging does not start:
- Disconnect the charging connector from the cleaner.
- Plug the supplied charger into the wall socket and switch the socket on.
- Connect the charging connector to the cleaner.
- Check whether the display responds.
2. Inspect the charger and charging socket
Disconnect the charger from the wall socket and cleaner before inspecting it.
Check for:
- Damage to the cable, plug or connector.
- Visible damage to the cleaner’s charging socket.
- Moisture or debris around the connection.
Do not insert tools into the charging socket or apply cleaning liquids.
If the charger or charging socket is damaged, or water may have entered electrical parts, do not reconnect it. Contact Customer Support for advice.
3. Check the room temperature
The manual recommends an ambient charging temperature of 10°C–40°C and states that the cleaner must not be charged below 5°C or above 40°C.
If the cleaner has been kept somewhere very cold or hot:
- Move it to a dry indoor room within the recommended temperature range.
- Allow the appliance to reach room temperature naturally.
- Try charging again once the appliance and connection are dry.
Do not use a radiator, heater or direct sunlight to warm the cleaner.
4. Check the charging display
During charging, the display shows the battery percentage and charging symbol.
When fully charged, the display shows 100% and then turns off after approximately 30 seconds. A blank display after reaching full charge does not, by itself, mean charging has failed.
Note whether:
- The display responds when the charger is connected.
- The charging symbol appears.
- The battery percentage increases during charging.
- The display reaches 100% before turning off.
5. Allow enough time for a full charge
A full charge takes approximately 4–6 hours. Fully charge the cleaner before first use.
A short charging period may not fully recharge an empty battery.
If charging starts normally, allow time for the battery percentage to increase while following the manual’s instruction not to leave the product unattended.
If there is no display response after the connection and power checks, or charging starts but the percentage does not increase, contact Customer Support. Do not repeatedly continue charging a product that shows signs of damage or abnormal operation.
6. Disconnect the charger before testing the cleaner
The cleaner does not operate while charging and cannot be switched on in its upright position.
After charging:
- Disconnect the charger from the cleaner.
- Tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button.
If the battery appears charged but the cleaner will not start, use the “Won’t switch on” guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
What if the battery charges but runs down quickly?
Check that the cleaner received a full charge and note the cleaning mode used.
If running time has reduced significantly despite a full charge, contact our team with:
- The battery percentage at the start.
- The selected mode.
- How long the cleaner runs.
- Whether it stops suddenly or the percentage decreases gradually.
The rechargeable battery is built into the appliance and is not a user-replaceable part. Do not open the cleaner or attempt to remove or replace the battery.
When should I stop trying to charge it?
Stop using or charging the cleaner if you notice:
- Smoke or a burning smell.
- Swelling or distortion of the appliance.
- A damaged cable or exposed wiring.
- Unusual or excessive heat.
- Water entering the charging socket or electrical parts.
Disconnect the power supply if safe to do so and contact Customer Support. Do not reconnect the charger or recreate the problem for a video.
