If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner won’t switch on, follow the checks below.
Battery charge, connection to the charger and handle position can all affect whether the cleaner starts.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Do not use or charge the cleaner if you notice visible damage, exposed wiring, smoke, a burning smell, unusual swelling or excessive heat.
If any of these are present, stop and contact Customer Support. Do not repeat the problem to record a video.
Do not open the cleaner body, attempt electrical repairs or remove the built-in battery.
1. Disconnect the charger
The cleaner does not operate while charging.
Disconnect the charging lead from the appliance before trying to switch it on.
2. Tilt the handle into the working position
The cleaner will not switch on for normal floor cleaning in the upright park position.
- Place the cleaner on a suitable hard floor.
- Rest one foot on the floor-cleaning head to hold it steady.
- Gently tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button.
Do not force the handle.
3. Check the battery charge
If the battery is low or empty:
- Use the supplied charger or a replacement supplied or approved by Morphy Richards for model 740002.
- Connect the charger securely to the cleaner and a suitable wall socket.
- Make sure the socket is switched on.
- Check whether the display shows the battery percentage and charging symbol.
- Allow the battery to charge.
- Disconnect the charger, tilt the handle into the working position and press the On/Off button.
A full charge takes approximately 4–6 hours. Do not leave the product unattended while charging.
When fully charged, the display shows 100% and turns off after approximately 30 seconds. The display turning off after full charge does not, by itself, indicate a fault.
If the display does not respond or the battery percentage does not increase, follow the “Not charging” guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
4. If it stopped during use, allow it to cool
If the cleaner stopped during use and now will not restart, its overheating protection may have activated.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Allow it to cool for approximately 1–2 hours.
- Empty and rinse the dirty water tank.
- Clean the filters as described in the user manual.
- Check the accessible suction inlet for blockages and gently remove accessible debris.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Reassemble the cleaner, ensuring the filters and tank are securely fitted.
- With the charger disconnected, tilt the handle into the working position and try switching on again.
Do not force tools into the inlet or dismantle the cleaner. Never operate it without its filters installed.
If the cleaner repeatedly stops or will not restart after these checks, contact Customer Support rather than repeatedly trying to run it.
