If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner stops during cleaning or switches off unexpectedly, follow the checks below.
A low battery or activation of the overheating protection can cause the cleaner to stop. Dirty filters or blockages may contribute to overheating.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing components, cleaning filters or checking for blockages.
If you notice smoke, a burning smell, unusual swelling, excessive heat or visible electrical damage, do not use or charge the cleaner. Contact Customer Support rather than carrying out further tests.
Do not open the cleaner body, attempt electrical repairs or remove the built-in battery.
1. Check the battery charge
Check the battery percentage shown on the display.
If the battery is low:
- Switch the cleaner off.
- Recharge it using the supplied charger or a replacement supplied or approved by Morphy Richards for model 740002.
- Allow sufficient charging time. A full charge takes approximately 4–6 hours.
- Disconnect the charger before testing the cleaner.
The cleaner does not operate while charging. Do not leave the product unattended while charging.
If charging does not start or the battery percentage does not increase, use the “Not charging” guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
2. Allow the cleaner to cool
If the cleaner stopped during use, its built-in overheating protection may have activated.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Allow it to cool naturally for approximately 1–2 hours.
- Complete the tank, filter and blockage checks below before restarting.
Do not repeatedly try to switch the cleaner on while it is cooling.
3. Empty and clean the dirty water tank
- With the cleaner switched off and disconnected from the charger, remove the dirty water tank.
- Empty the tank. Do not allow dirty water to exceed the MAX mark.
- Remove the lid and filter assembly.
- Rinse the tank and lid thoroughly with clean water.
- Check that the float is free from debris and moves freely.
Complete the filter cleaning below before reassembling the tank.
4. Clean and dry the filters
- Remove debris from the mesh filter.
- Rinse the mesh filter thoroughly with clean water.
- Remove the sponge filter from its holder.
- Clear trapped dirt and rinse the sponge filter thoroughly.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Reassemble the filter components and tank lid.
- Fit the bottom of the dirty water tank first, then push the upper part into place until it clicks.
Never operate the cleaner without its filters installed.
5. Check the inlet and elbow connection for blockages
Hair, fluff and other debris can obstruct the suction pathway.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Inspect the accessible suction inlet around the floor-cleaning head.
- Check the elbow connection behind the head for visible trapped debris.
- Gently remove accessible debris using the supplied cleaning brush where it can reach.
The arrow shows the elbow connection to inspect for visible trapped debris
Do not force tools into the opening, push debris further inside or dismantle the connection.
If you cannot safely reach or remove a blockage, stop and contact Customer Support.
6. Remove tangled hair or threads from the roller
- With the cleaner switched off, disconnected from the charger and upright, remove the roller cover using its release lever.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Remove tangled hair, threads and visible debris.
- Clean the roller and cover under running water.
- Refit the roller by inserting the end without the lever first, then pressing the lever end into position.
- Align the cover with its slots and press it into place until it clicks.
If you will not use the cleaner immediately after cleaning, allow the roller to dry before refitting.
Keep fingers, hair, loose clothing and tools away from the roller whenever the cleaner is running.
If the cleaner runs but the roller does not turn, use the roller troubleshooting guide available through our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
7. Test the cleaner again
Once the cleaner has cooled, the battery has sufficient charge and all components are correctly fitted:
- Check that the sponge filter is fully dry and installed.
- Disconnect the charger from the cleaner.
- Tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button and test a small area.
- If the cleaner stops again, note the selected mode, battery percentage and any display symbol or message.
If the cleaner cuts out again after these checks, stop using it and contact Customer Support. Do not repeatedly restart it to continue cleaning.
