If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner is leaking water, follow the checks below to help identify the source.
Incorrectly fitted tanks, an unsecured cap, excessive foam or water remaining around the roller may contribute to water escaping.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Before you start
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing components or inspecting for leaks. Disconnect the mains power only if safe to do so.
If water has reached the charging socket, charger or electrical parts, do not use or charge the cleaner. Contact Customer Support before proceeding.
Keep the cleaner upright during inspection. Do not open the cleaner body, dismantle the cleaning head or attempt repairs using glue or sealant.
1. Identify where the water appears
With the cleaner switched off and disconnected from the charger, wipe its accessible exterior dry.
Check whether the water appears around:
- The clean water tank, cap or outlet.
- The dirty water tank or lid.
- The floor-cleaning head.
- The storage base or floor beneath the parked cleaner.
Note whether it happens during cleaning, self-cleaning or storage.
If the cleaner leaves water across the floor during use, rather than visibly leaking from a tank or connection, the issue may be poor water pick-up. Select “Not picking up water or leaving floors too wet” from our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
2. Check the clean water tank and cap
- Remove the clean water tank.
- Check that it has not been overfilled. Follow the manual’s filling instructions, which specify approximately 600ml.
- Inspect the tank, cap and visible sealing surfaces for debris or damage.
- Gently remove accessible residue around the cap.
- Close the cap securely.
- Wipe the outside dry.
- Refit the tank until it clicks into place.
Do not use hot water or insert tools into the outlet valve.
If the tank is cracked, the cap will not close securely or water continues escaping from the tank, stop and contact Customer Support.
3. Empty and check the dirty water tank
A full or incorrectly assembled dirty water tank can allow water to spill.
- Remove and empty the dirty water tank. Do not allow water to exceed the MAX mark.
- Remove the lid and filter assembly.
- Rinse the tank and lid.
- Check that the float is free from debris and moves freely.
- Inspect the tank and lid for visible damage.
- Reassemble the lid and filter components correctly.
- Insert the bottom of the tank first, then push the upper section into place until it clicks.
If you wash the sponge filter, allow it to dry fully before refitting. Never operate the cleaner without its filters installed.
4. Check for excessive foam
Too much detergent or an unsuitable cleaning product can create excessive foam and affect operation.
With the cleaner switched off and disconnected from the charger:
- Empty and rinse both tanks.
- Clean solution residue from the removed roller, cover and filters.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully.
- Reassemble the components.
- Refill the clean water tank using a suitable solution and the correct dose.
Do not add another product to counteract foam.
If foam or water has entered electrical parts, do not test or charge the cleaner. Contact Customer Support.
For solution guidance, select “Which cleaning solution can I use?” from our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
5. Check the roller, cover and accessible inlet
Poor water collection can leave moisture around the cleaning head.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Remove the roller and cover as described in the manual.
- Clear trapped hair, threads and visible debris.
- Clean the removed roller and cover.
- Inspect the accessible suction inlet and elbow connection for blockages.
- Gently remove accessible debris using the supplied cleaning brush.
- Refit the roller securely and press the cover into place until it clicks.
Do not force tools into openings, push debris further inside or dismantle the connection.
If a blockage is out of reach, contact Customer Support.
6. Park the cleaner upright on its base
Laying the cleaner on its side or allowing it to tip over while the tanks contain water can cause spills.
When taking a break:
- Switch the cleaner off.
- Return the handle to the upright park position.
- Place the cleaner securely on its storage base.
Do not leave the roller running while stationary.
Some moisture may remain around a wet roller after cleaning. However, continuing water loss or a growing puddle should not be dismissed as normal residual moisture.
7. Empty and dry the cleaner before storage
Before storing:
- Empty and rinse both tanks.
- Clean the roller, cover and filters.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Allow the roller to dry before refitting if the cleaner will not be used immediately.
- Wipe the storage base and floor underneath dry.
- Store the cleaner upright on its base.
For the complete routine, select “How to store your floor cleaner after use” from our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
8. Check whether the issue is resolved
Only test again if:
- No component is visibly damaged.
- The tanks, caps, filters, roller and cover are securely fitted.
- The sponge filter is fully dry.
- No water has entered the charging connection or electrical parts.
- There is no continuing leak while the cleaner is switched off.
Test a small area of flooring already confirmed as suitable for wet cleaning. Stop if water continues escaping.
Do not repeatedly run the cleaner to reproduce a leak.
