If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) does not appear to charge, follow the checks below.
The power supply, charger connection and room temperature can all affect charging.
1. Check the charger and power supply
Use only the charger supplied with your cleaner.
- Check that the charger is securely connected to the appliance and wall socket.
- Make sure the socket is switched on.
- If there is no response, test the socket using another appliance.
- If you are using an extension lead, try a suitable wall socket directly.
Do not use a different charger simply because its connector fits.
Try reconnecting the charger
If charging does not start:
- Disconnect the charging connector from the cleaner.
- Plug the supplied charger into the wall socket and switch the socket on.
- Then connect the charging connector to the cleaner.
- Check whether the display responds and charging begins.
Make sure your hands and the charging connection are dry before reconnecting.
2. Inspect the charger and charging connection
Disconnect the charger from the wall socket and cleaner before inspecting it.
Check for:
- Damage to the cable, plug or connector.
- Visible damage to the appliance’s charging connection.
- Moisture or debris around the connection.
Make sure your hands and the charging connection are dry before reconnecting. Do not insert tools into the charging socket or apply cleaning liquids.
Do not use a damaged charger. Contact our Customer Support team for advice.
3. Check the room temperature
The user manual gives an ambient temperature range of 5°C–40°C for charging.
If the cleaner is in a very cold or hot location, move it to a dry indoor room within this range. Allow it to reach room temperature naturally before trying again.
Do not use a radiator, heater or direct sunlight to warm the appliance.
4. Allow enough time to charge
A full charge takes approximately 4–6 hours. A short charging period may not fully recharge an empty battery.
Check the display when connecting the charger and note whether the battery percentage changes during charging.
If there is no response or the percentage does not increase after a reasonable charging period, contact our Customer Support team.
5. Disconnect the charger before testing
The cleaner will not operate while it is charging. This does not necessarily indicate a charging problem.
After charging:
- Disconnect the charger from the appliance.
- Tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button.
If the battery appears charged but the cleaner will not start, see our guide: My floor cleaner won’t switch on.
What if the battery charges but runs down quickly?
Check whether the cleaner received a full charge and note the mode you are using. Running time varies with the selected setting.
If running time has reduced significantly despite a full charge, contact us with details of how long the cleaner operates and which mode is selected.
Do not open the cleaner or attempt to remove or replace the built-in battery yourself.
When should I stop trying to charge it?
Do not use or charge the cleaner if you notice:
- Smoke or a burning smell.
- Unusual battery swelling or distortion.
- A damaged cable or exposed wiring.
- Excessive heat from the charger or appliance.
- Water entering the charging connection or electrical parts.
Disconnect the power supply if it is safe to do so and contact our Customer Support team.
Still not charging?

- Your model and serial number
- Purchase details.

- The checks you have completed.
Clear photographs of the charger label and charging connection, or a short video showing the display when connected, can help us assess the issue.
We’ll review the information and advise on the next steps.
