For your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, use a suitable machine-cleaning solution that does not produce excessive foam.
The user manual permits a standard carpet-cleaning solution in the clean water tank. The solution must also be suitable for the hard flooring you are cleaning.
Always follow the detergent manufacturer’s dosing instructions and your flooring manufacturer’s care guidance.
Applies to: MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner, model 740002. Check the rating label on your appliance to confirm the model.
Can I use Morphy Richards cleaning solution?
Yes. Our Morphy Richards Carpet & Hard Floor Cleaning Solution 1L, product code 790007, is listed as compatible with model 740002.
Follow the instructions on the bottle and check that the solution is suitable for your particular flooring.
Measure the recommended amount carefully. Adding extra detergent can increase foam and leave residue rather than improve cleaning.
Can I use another brand?
The manual does not require you to use only Morphy Richards cleaning solution.
If choosing another brand, check that it:
- Is a standard carpet-cleaning solution intended for machine use.
- Does not produce excessive foam.
- Is suitable for your particular hard flooring.
- Provides clear dilution and dosing instructions.
A product described as a “floor cleaner” is not automatically suitable for use inside the appliance.
If compatibility is unclear, check with the solution manufacturer before adding it to the tank.
How much cleaning solution should I add?
Follow the solution bottle’s instructions for the amount of water you are using. Concentrations vary, so there is no single dose that applies to every product.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Remove the clean water tank and open its cap.
- Fill with water as directed in the manual, which specifies approximately 600ml. Do not use hot water or overfill.
- Measure the cleaning solution according to its dosing instructions.
- Close the tank cap securely.
- Refit the tank until it clicks into place.
Do not pour undiluted detergent directly onto the roller or add extra detergent for stubborn marks.
What products should I avoid?
Do not substitute suitable machine-cleaning solution with:
- Washing-up liquid or other products that create excessive foam.
- Bleach, solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Perfume, essential oils or scented additives.
- Homemade cleaning mixtures.
- A combination of different cleaning products.
Do not assume that disinfectants, steam-mop liquids or general household floor detergents are suitable for the appliance.
Can I use plain water?
You can use plain water without adding detergent. This may be sufficient for light cleaning.
Greasy or stubborn dirt may require a suitable cleaning solution. Whether using water alone or a solution, check that your flooring is suitable for wet cleaning.
What if there is too much foam?
Excessive foam can affect the cleaner’s operation.
- Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Remove and empty both water tanks.
- Rinse the tanks thoroughly.
- Clean solution residue from the removed roller, cover and filters.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Reassemble all components securely.
- Refill the clean water tank with the correct mixture, or plain water while you establish whether the solution is suitable.
Do not add another cleaning product to counteract the foam or continue using an unsuitable mixture.
If foam or water has entered electrical parts, do not use or charge the cleaner. Contact Customer Support for advice.
What if the floor feels sticky or looks streaky?
Too much detergent can leave residue. A dirty roller or excess water left on the floor can also affect the finish.
Before your next use:
- Check the detergent dose.
- Clean the roller and cover.
- Empty and rinse the dirty water tank.
- Use steady forward and backward passes.
- Select Rapid Suction on the backward pass to help collect remaining water.
For further checks, select “Leaving streaks or marks” from our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
Does carpet-cleaning solution mean I can clean carpets?
No. “Carpet-cleaning solution” describes the type of detergent permitted by the manual.
Your MRX Complete Pro 740002 is a hard floor cleaner. Adding carpet-cleaning solution does not make it a carpet washer or suitable for rugs.
For surface guidance, select “Which floor types can I clean?” from our MRX Complete Pro 740002 support hub.
