If your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) won’t turn on, follow the checks below.
Battery charge, connection to the charger and handle position can all affect whether the cleaner starts.
1. Disconnect the charger
The cleaner does not operate while it is charging.
Disconnect the charging lead from the appliance before trying to switch it on.
2. Tilt the handle into the working position
The cleaner will not switch on in the upright park position.
- Place the cleaner on a suitable hard floor.
- Rest one foot on the floor-cleaning head to hold it steady.
- Gently tilt the handle backwards into the working position.
- Press the On/Off button.
Do not force the handle or try to start normal floor cleaning with the appliance locked upright.
3. Check the battery charge
If the battery is low or empty, charge the cleaner using the charger supplied with the appliance.
- Check that the charger is securely connected to the cleaner and the wall socket.
- Make sure the socket is switched on.
- Allow the battery to charge before testing again.
- Disconnect the charger, tilt the handle into the working position and press the On/Off button.
If the display does not respond when you connect the charger, check whether the socket works using another appliance.
For further guidance, see: My floor cleaner isn’t charging.
4. If it stopped during use, allow it to cool
If your cleaner stopped while you were using it and now won’t restart, its overheating protection may have activated.
- Switch it off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Leave it to cool for approximately 1–2 hours.
- Empty and clean the dirty water tank.
- Clean the filters and check the accessible inlet for blockages.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before refitting.
- Reassemble the cleaner and try again.
If it repeatedly stops or will not restart after these checks, contact our Customer Support team.
5. Check for visible damage
Before trying again, inspect the cleaner, charging connection and charger for visible damage.
Do not use or charge the appliance if you notice a damaged cable, exposed wiring, a burning smell, smoke or unusual battery swelling. Contact our Customer Support team for assistance.
Do not open the cleaner body, attempt to repair electrical components or remove the built-in battery.
