Once your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle is connected to the Amazon Alexa app, you can use Alexa voice commands to control your kettle hands-free.
Whether you're making your morning cup of tea or getting the kettle ready while you're busy in the kitchen, Alexa gives you another convenient way to control your kettle.
Before you start
You'll need:
- Your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle
- A smartphone or tablet with the Amazon Alexa app installed
- An Amazon account
- Your kettle connected to Wi-Fi
- An Alexa-enabled device, such as an Amazon Echo
Make sure your kettle has been successfully set up and appears in the Devices section of the Amazon Alexa app before using voice commands.

How to use Alexa voice commands with your kettle
1. Check your kettle is connected
Open the Amazon Alexa app and select Devices.
Your Morphy Richards Kettle should appear as a connected device. The kettle's device screen gives you access to its smart controls and information.
Your kettle will need power and a Wi-Fi connection for Alexa to communicate with it.
2. Check the name of your kettle
Alexa uses the device name assigned to your kettle.
Your kettle can be renamed through the Alexa app, so it's worth checking what it's currently called before using voice commands.
To change the name:
- Open your kettle's main screen in the Alexa app.
- Select Settings.
- Select Edit Name under Morphy Richards Kettle.
- Enter your preferred name.
- Select < to go back.
Choosing a simple, distinctive name can make it easier for Alexa to recognise which device you want to control.
3. Start your command with "Alexa"
To give your kettle a voice command, start by saying:
"Alexa..."
Then give the command you want Alexa to carry out.
Speak clearly and, where needed, use the name you've assigned to your kettle in the Alexa app.
4. Use a voice-triggered Routine
You can also create a Routine that allows you to control your kettle using a specific voice phrase.
For example, the Morphy Richards user manual gives the voice command:
"Alexa, boil the kettle."
When this phrase is set as the trigger for your Routine, saying it to your Alexa-enabled device will activate the Routine.

Important: Your kettle must show Power On on its main control screen for a Routine to work successfully.
5. Check Alexa has understood your request
After giving your voice command, listen for Alexa's response.
If Alexa doesn't understand the request, try saying the command again clearly and check that you're using the correct device name or Routine phrase.

Once your Morphy Richards Kettle has been paired, its device screen in the Alexa app gives you access to a range of smart controls and information, including:
- Switching the kettle on and off
- Viewing the current water temperature
- Viewing the remaining water level
- Presetting the water temperature
- Changing the temperature unit
- Switching Keep Warm on or off
- Viewing the descale countdown
- Resetting the descale countdown
- Creating Alexa Routines
- Voice command functionality

Having trouble using Alexa voice commands?
If Alexa isn't controlling your kettle, try the following.
Check your kettle has power
Make sure your kettle is correctly positioned on its power base and connected to the mains supply.
Check your kettle is connected to Wi-Fi
Your kettle needs a Wi-Fi connection to communicate with Alexa.

Check your kettle appears in the Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app → Devices and check that your Morphy Richards Kettle is listed and available.

Check the kettle name
Make sure you're using the correct device name when speaking to Alexa.
If you've renamed your kettle, use the new name when giving your command.
Check your Alexa-enabled device
Try another Alexa voice command to check that your Alexa-enabled device is connected and responding normally.
If Alexa isn't responding to any voice commands, the problem may be with your Alexa-enabled device or connection rather than your kettle.
Check your Routine
If you're using a voice-triggered Routine, make sure the Routine is active and that you're saying the phrase you entered when setting it up.
Remember, the kettle must show Power On on its main control screen for the Routine to work successfully.
