Want to make using your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle even easier? You can create an Alexa Routine to control your kettle using a voice command or another trigger.
Alexa Routines allow you to choose what starts the Routine, such as a voice phrase or schedule, and automate an action.
Follow the steps below to create an Alexa Routine for your Morphy Richards Kettle.
Before you start
You'll need:
- Your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle
- A smartphone or tablet with the Amazon Alexa app installed
- An Amazon account
- An Alexa-enabled device
- A Wi-Fi connection
- Your kettle paired with the Alexa app
Make sure your kettle has been successfully set up and appears in the Devices section of the Alexa app.
How to create an Alexa Routine for your kettle
1. Open the Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
Go to the Devices tab and select your Morphy Richards Kettle.
This will open the kettle's main control screen.
2. Select "Create a routine"
On the kettle's main control screen, select:
Create a routine
This will open the Routine setup screen.
3. Select "Create Routine"
On the next screen, select:
Create Routine
You can now start setting up your new Routine.
4. Name your Routine
Select:
Enter routine name
Enter a name for your Routine.
For example:
Boil the kettle
Select Next to save the name and return to the Routine options.
5. Choose what starts your Routine
Under When this happens, select:
Voice
This allows you to choose a phrase that will trigger your Routine.
6. Add your voice trigger
Enter the phrase you want to use to start the Routine.
For example, the user manual uses:
"Alexa, boil the kettle."
Select Next to save your voice trigger.
Please note: This is the phrase used to trigger the Routine you've created. It shouldn't be confused with a general Alexa voice command.
7. Save your Routine
Once you've finished setting up your Routine, select:
Save
Your new Routine will appear under Your Routines on the main Routines screen.
8. Use your Alexa Routine
Once your Routine has been saved and activated, say the voice trigger you created.
For example:
"Alexa, boil the kettle."
Alexa will recognise the phrase and activate the Routine you've created for your Morphy Richards Kettle.
Important: The kettle must show Power On on the main control screen for your Routine to work successfully.
How to use other triggers with your Alexa Routine
Your Alexa Routine doesn't have to be activated by your voice.
You can also select other trigger types, including:
- Schedule
- Smart Home
- Sound Detection
- Alarms
- Echo Button
For example, you can create a Morning Routine that activates at a specific time.
Set a scheduled Routine
When setting up your Routine, select:
Schedule → At Time
You can then choose:
- The time you want the Routine to start
- Whether it should repeat every day
- Specific days for the Routine
Select Next when you're happy with your settings, then select Save.
Important: The kettle must show Power On on the main control screen for your Routine to work successfully.
How to edit or manage an Alexa Routine
Once you've created a Routine, it will appear under Your Routines.
You can use the toggle switch to activate or deactivate the Routine.
Select the three dots in the top-right corner for additional options, including:
- Play Routine
- Change Trigger
- Copy Actions To New Routine
- View Activity
- Share Routine
- Delete Routine
You can also duplicate an existing Routine using Copy Actions To New Routine. This can be useful if you want to create a similar Routine with different settings, such as a different day or time.
