Having trouble setting up your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle? If you're using the QR code to connect your kettle to Alexa, it's important to scan the code from within the Amazon Alexa app.
Important: Scan the QR code using the Alexa app
Do not scan the QR code using your phone's normal camera app.
The QR code needs to be scanned when prompted within the Amazon Alexa app as part of the kettle setup process.
Using your phone's camera instead may open a webpage or show the QR code information, but it will not complete the Alexa kettle setup.
Where can I find the QR code?
The QR code is located on your Morphy Richards Halo Alexa Kettle.
Look for the QR code on the kettle itself and have it ready before you start the setup process.
Tip: Make sure the QR code is clean, clearly visible and not damaged before attempting to scan it.
How to scan the QR code
1. Open the Amazon Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
Make sure you are signed into the Amazon account you want to use with your kettle.
2. Start adding your kettle
In the Alexa app:
Select Devices → + → Add Device
Then select:
Kettle → Morphy Richards
Follow the instructions shown in the app.
3. Select the QR code setup option
When Alexa asks you how you would like to set up your kettle, select the option to scan the barcode/QR code.
The Alexa app will open your device's camera.
4. Scan the QR code
Hold your phone or tablet over the QR code on the kettle.
Make sure:
- The whole QR code is visible on your screen.
- Your camera is focused on the code.
- You have enough light.
- The QR code isn't dirty, damaged or obscured.
- You are scanning inside the Alexa app.
You don't need to take a photograph of the QR code. Simply hold your device over it until the Alexa app recognises it.
5. Wait for Alexa to find your kettle
Once the QR code has been successfully scanned, Alexa will continue the setup process and search for your Morphy Richards Kettle.
Keep your kettle switched on and follow the instructions displayed in the Alexa app.
You will then be asked to connect the kettle to your Wi-Fi network.
My QR code won't scan
If Alexa isn't recognising the QR code, try the following:
Check you're using the Alexa app
This is the most important step.
Don't use your phone's standard camera app.
Return to the Alexa app and continue the setup process from:
Devices → + → Add Device → Kettle → Morphy Richards
Then select the QR/barcode scanning option when prompted.
Check the QR code
Make sure the QR code is:
- Clean
- Undamaged
- Fully visible
- Not covered by anything
Try moving your phone
If the QR code isn't being recognised, slowly move your phone closer to or further away from the kettle until the code comes into focus.
Avoid holding the phone too close to the QR code.
Check your camera permissions
The Alexa app needs permission to access your camera to scan the QR code.
If you've previously denied camera access, check your phone's app permissions and allow the Alexa app to use your camera.
