If your Morphy Richards 1.8L Easy Steam Steam Generator Iron (333030) is producing little or no steam, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
A short delay before steam reaches the iron is normal. Water must first be pumped from the tank through the steam generator and supply cord.
1. Check the Water Tank
If the water level is too low, the steam generator will not produce steam.
- Switch off and unplug the appliance.
- Remove the detachable water tank.
- Fill the tank with water up to the MAX line.
- Refit the tank securely.
- Switch the appliance back on and allow it to heat up.
Do not fill the tank above the MAX line.
2. Check the Temperature Setting
Steam is only available when the temperature dial is set within the steam area.
Turn the temperature dial to two dots or above, then wait for the iron to reach the selected temperature before pressing the steam trigger.
The appliance will not produce steam when the temperature is set below two dots.
Always check the garment’s care label before choosing a temperature.
3. Wait for the Steam Generator to Heat Up
When the appliance is switched on, the selected ECO or High steam indicator will flash while the steam generator is heating.
Wait until the indicator remains steadily illuminated before attempting to use the steam.
Press and hold the steam trigger to produce a continuous flow of steam. There may be a short delay while water and steam travel from the base unit to the iron.
4. Check Whether Automatic Shut-Off Has Activated
The steam generator will switch off automatically after approximately 10 minutes without use or steam production.
To restart it:
- Press the On/Off button.
- Allow the appliance to heat up again.
- Wait until the selected steam indicator remains steadily illuminated.
- Press and hold the steam trigger.
5. Check the Calc Clean Indicator
If the Calc Clean indicator is flashing, limescale may be affecting the steam output.
Complete the Easy Steam Steam Generator Calc Clean cycle, then test the appliance again.
Only use the Calc Clean process described in the instruction manual. Do not add vinegar, chemical descaler or cleaning products to the water tank.
6. Check the Water Being Used
The water used in your steam generator can affect its performance and may contribute to limescale or deposits inside the system.

Is the Pump Making a Noise?
An occasional pumping sound is normal. It means water is being moved from the tank through the steam generator.
If you can hear the pump but no steam is produced, check that:
- There is enough water in the tank.
- The tank is fitted securely.
- The temperature is set to two dots or above.
- The appliance has fully heated.
- The Calc Clean indicator is not flashing.

- Your purchase details
- Whether the appliance produces any steam
- Whether the problem began suddenly or gradually
- Whether the Calc Clean indicator is illuminated
- The type of water that has been used
- Whether you can hear the pump operating
