If your Morphy Richards 1.8L Easy Steam Steam Generator Iron (333030) causes the household electrics, circuit breaker or RCD to trip, switch off and unplug the appliance before completing the checks below.
Do not repeatedly reconnect an appliance that continues to trip the electrical supply.
1. Check for Water or Visible Damage
Once the appliance has cooled completely, check the steam generator for:
- Water leaking from the iron or base unit
- Water around the power cable or plug
- Damage to the power cable or steam supply cord
- Scorch marks, discolouration or damage to the plug
- A burning smell or signs of overheating
Do not use or reconnect the steam generator if it is wet, leaking or visibly damaged.
Never touch the plug, cable or appliance with wet hands.
2. Disconnect Other Appliances
Other high-powered appliances connected to the same group of sockets may overload the electrical circuit.
Switch off and unplug any other appliances connected to the same socket group before testing the steam generator again.
Connect the steam generator directly to a suitable wall socket. Do not use an extension lead or multi-plug adaptor.
3. Try a Different Wall Socket
If there is no visible damage, leaking water or burning smell, try the steam generator once in a different suitable wall socket.
The alternative socket should not be part of the same extension lead or multi-plug adaptor.
If the appliance works normally in another socket, the original socket or household electrical circuit may need to be checked by a qualified electrician.
If the Electrics Trip Again
If the steam generator causes the electrical supply to trip again:
- Switch off the appliance.
- Unplug it from the wall socket.
- Do not attempt any further tests.
- Allow the appliance to cool completely.
- Do not dismantle or attempt to repair it yourself.
Please contact Morphy Richards Customer Support for further assistance.
Is the Problem Affecting Other Appliances?
If other appliances also cause the same socket or circuit to trip, the problem may be with the household electrical supply rather than the steam generator.
Stop using the affected socket and contact a qualified electrician for advice.
