Cleaning and storing your Morphy Richards 1.8L Easy Steam Steam Generator Iron (333030) correctly will help maintain its performance and protect the soleplate, cables and steam system.
Always switch off, unplug and allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning, emptying or storing it.
Cleaning the Soleplate
Once the soleplate is completely cool, wipe it using a clean, damp cloth.
Do not use:
- Scouring powders
- Abrasive cleaning products
- Metal scourers
- Sharp cleaning tools
These could scratch or damage the soleplate coating.
Removing Synthetic Fibres From the Soleplate
If synthetic or man-made fibres have melted onto the soleplate:
- Set the temperature dial to MAX.
- Allow the iron to reach the selected temperature.
- Carefully pass the hot iron over a clean piece of cotton.
- The cotton should help draw the deposit away from the soleplate.
Take care, as the soleplate will be extremely hot. Always test the iron on an old, clean towel before using it on clothing again.
Cleaning the Exterior
Make sure the appliance is switched off, unplugged and completely cool.
Wipe the exterior of the iron and base unit with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent, then wipe dry.
Never:
- Immerse the iron or base unit in water.
- Allow water to enter the controls or electrical connections.
- Clean the appliance while it is still connected to the electrical supply.
- Use chemical, abrasive or alcohol-based cleaning products.
Cleaning the Steam System
When the Calc Clean indicator flashes, complete the Easy Steam Steam Generator Calc Clean cycle.
Do not put vinegar, chemical descaler or cleaning products into the water tank. Only use the appliance’s built-in Calc Clean function to remove limescale and deposits from the steam system.
Emptying the Water Tank
After each use:
- Switch off and unplug the appliance.
- Allow it to cool completely.
- Remove the detachable water tank.
- Empty any remaining water.
- Refit the empty tank securely to the base unit.
Emptying the tank after use helps keep the appliance clean during storage.
Locking the Iron to the Base
Before moving or storing the steam generator:
- Place the iron onto the iron rest plate.
- Position it underneath the locking hook.
- Press the iron lock button to secure it.
- Check that the iron is locked firmly in place before lifting the appliance.
When the iron is secured correctly, the complete appliance can be lifted and carried.
Storing the Steam Supply Cord and Power Cable
Allow the appliance and cables to cool completely before storing them.
To store the cables:
- Fold the steam supply cord in two.
- Place it carefully along the cord-storage groove.
- Fold the power cable neatly.
- Secure the power cable using the attached cable tie.
Avoid pulling, tightly wrapping or sharply bending either cable.
Take particular care not to kink the cables where they connect to the iron or base unit. Do not pull tightly on the steam supply cord or cable support when storing the appliance.
Choosing a Safe Storage Location
Store the steam generator:
- In a cool, dry place
- On a stable surface
- Away from children
- Away from hot surfaces and heating appliances
- With the iron securely locked to the base
- With the tank emptied and the cables stored loosely
Do not store the appliance while the soleplate, base unit, water or Calc Clean tray is still hot.
Before Using the Steam Generator Again
Before the next use:
- Check the power cable and steam supply cord for damage.
- Make sure the water tank is clean and securely fitted.
- Fill the tank with suitable water up to the MAX line.
- Check that the soleplate is clean.
- Test the steam on an old, clean towel if the appliance has been stored for an extended period.
