If your Morphy Richards 1.8L Easy Steam Steam Generator Iron (333030) is not switching on, is not heating up or is not reaching the selected temperature, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
1. Check the Power Supply
Make sure the appliance is plugged in securely and the wall socket is switched on.
To check the electrical supply:
- Test another appliance in the same socket.
- Check the fuse in the steam generator’s plug.
- If the fuse needs replacing, only use one with the same rating as the original.
- Check the power cable and plug for any visible signs of damage.
Do not use the appliance if the plug, power cable or steam supply cord is damaged.
2. Make Sure the Steam Generator Is Switched On
Press the On/Off button and check whether the power indicator illuminates.
If the power indicator does not illuminate after checking the socket and plug fuse, switch off and unplug the appliance.
3. Check the Temperature Dial
Make sure the temperature dial is not set to its minimum position.
Turn the dial to the appropriate setting for the garment and allow the iron to heat up. The temperature indicator will illuminate while the iron is heating and switch off once the selected temperature has been reached.
The indicator will continue to switch on and off during use as the iron maintains the selected temperature. This is normal.
Always check the garment’s care label before selecting a temperature.
4. Allow the Temperature to Stabilise
If the steam generator has just been switched on or restarted following automatic shut-off, allow the iron to heat and stabilise for approximately one to two minutes.
Steam will only be produced when the temperature dial is set within the steam area at two dots or above.
5. Check Whether Automatic Shut-Off Has Activated
The appliance will switch off automatically after approximately 10 minutes without use or steam production.
To restart it:
- Press the On/Off button.
- Select the required temperature.
- Allow the iron to heat for one to two minutes.
- Wait until the selected ECO or High steam indicator remains steadily illuminated before using steam.
Is the Iron Too Hot or Not Hot Enough?
Make sure the selected temperature is suitable for the fabric being ironed.
A setting that is too high may scorch or damage the fabric. If the temperature is too low, the iron may not remove creases effectively and will not produce steam below the two-dot setting.
Allow the temperature to stabilise after adjusting the dial before continuing to iron.
