If your Morphy Richards Halo 1.5L Alexa Kettle won't boil, there are a few simple things to check before contacting us.
Follow the troubleshooting steps below if your kettle has power but won't start heating the water.
Before you start
Make sure:
- The kettle is connected to the mains supply
- The kettle is correctly positioned on its cordless power base
- There's enough water in the kettle
- The water isn't above the maximum fill level
- The kettle's control screen is illuminated
What to check if your Alexa Kettle won't boil
1. Check the kettle has power
Make sure the cordless power base is connected to the mains supply and the socket is switched on.
When the kettle is connected to the mains supply, it should beep and the Power symbol will illuminate, indicating that it's in standby mode.
2. Check the kettle is correctly positioned on the base
Make sure the kettle is sitting securely on the cordless power base.
Lift the kettle from the base and place it back down, making sure it's positioned correctly.
3. Activate the control screen
Touch the illuminated Power symbol once to activate the full control screen.
To start a full 100°C boil, press the Power symbol again.
The temperature display should flash, followed by the boiling symbol. The boiling symbol will continue to flash while the water heats.
4. Check the water level
Make sure the water is above the minimum fill line and no higher than the MAX line.
Don't operate the kettle below the minimum fill level or overfill it.
5. Check whether you've selected a different temperature
Your Alexa Kettle can heat water to:
100°C → 90°C → 85°C → 80°C → 60°C → 40°C
If you've selected a temperature below 100°C, the kettle will heat the water to that temperature rather than bringing it to a full boil.
For more information, see:
How to Select the Temperature on Your Alexa Kettle
6. Check for limescale
A build-up of limescale can affect the performance of your kettle.
The kettle should be descaled regularly, with the frequency depending on how often it's used and the hardness of the water in your area.
