If the blades in your Morphy Richards Soup Maker are damaged, not spinning or no longer blending ingredients properly, you may be wondering whether they can be replaced.
Morphy Richards UK does not supply replacement blades or blade assemblies separately for its Soup Makers.
This guide explains why replacement blades aren't available, what to do if your blades are damaged or have stopped working, and how to care for them safely.
Models covered: 48822, 501014, 501020, 501021, 501022, 501025 and 501050.
Can I Buy Replacement Blades for My Morphy Richards Soup Maker?
No. We do not sell replacement Soup Maker blades or blade assemblies separately.
The blades form part of the appliance's integrated blending mechanism and are not intended to be replaced by customers.
This applies to the Soup Maker models covered by this guide, including:
- 48822 – Classic Soup Maker
- 501014 – Sauté Soup Maker
- 501020 – Total Control Soup Maker
- 501021 – Compact Soup Maker
- 501022 – Large Soup Maker
- 501025 – Perfect Soup Maker
- 501050 – Clarity Soup Maker
We are unable to supply individual blades, replacement blade assemblies or a fitting service for these models.
Why Aren't Replacement Blades Available?
Soup Makers combine heating, blending and electrical components within a compact appliance.
The blade assembly is part of the appliance's internal mechanism, and attempting to remove or replace it could:
- Damage the motor or blade drive mechanism.
- Compromise electrical safety.
- Affect seals and potentially cause leaks.
- Damage the cooking vessel or surrounding components.
- Make the appliance unsafe to operate.
Do not attempt to dismantle the Soup Maker, remove fixed blades or fit third-party replacement blades.
My Soup Maker Blades Aren't Spinning – Does This Mean They're Broken?
Not necessarily.
If the blades have stopped spinning or the Soup Maker isn't blending ingredients correctly, the issue may be related to the programme selected, ingredient consistency, an obstruction or another operating fault.
What should I check?
1. Check which programme you're using
Not every Soup Maker programme blends continuously.
For example, the Chunky programme is designed to cook ingredients while retaining their texture, so you shouldn't expect the blades to operate in the same way as the Smooth programme.
The Blend function is used to blend ingredients and does not heat them.
2. Check the ingredients
Ingredients that are too large, tightly packed or excessively thick may prevent effective blending.
- Cut vegetables into small, evenly sized pieces.
- Ensure sufficient liquid has been added.
- Keep within the minimum and maximum fill levels.
- Avoid large frozen blocks or ingredients that are too hard for the appliance to process.
For more advice, see our Soup Maker – Best Ingredient Preparation Guide.
3. Check for trapped food
If ingredients have become lodged around the blades:
- Switch off and unplug the Soup Maker.
- Allow the appliance and its contents to cool completely.
- Empty the jug carefully.
- Inspect the accessible area around the blades.
- Remove any visible food obstruction carefully using a suitable non-metal utensil or soft cleaning brush.
- Clean the jug and blade area thoroughly.
Never put your fingers near the sharp blades or attempt to force them to rotate.
4. Check that the lid and components are correctly fitted
Some Soup Maker models have safety mechanisms that prevent operation when the lid or components aren't correctly positioned.
Ensure everything is fitted securely and correctly before use.
Do not attempt to bypass or interfere with any safety mechanism.
What if the blades still don't work?
If the blades remain stationary when they should be blending, make an unusual grinding noise or appear damaged, stop using the appliance.
The issue may require further assessment rather than routine cleaning or ingredient adjustments.
What Should I Do if a Blade Is Broken, Bent or Damaged?
Stop using the Soup Maker immediately.
Do not continue cooking or blending if:
- A blade is cracked, bent or broken.
- A blade appears loose or detached.
- The blade assembly is visibly damaged.
- Metal fragments or other damaged components may have entered the food.
- The blades are striking the inside of the jug.
Do not consume any food that may contain fragments from a damaged blade or appliance component.
Do not attempt to straighten, tighten, glue or replace a damaged blade yourself.
As replacement blade assemblies aren't supplied separately, the next step is to have the appliance assessed for an appropriate resolution.
Can Morphy Richards Repair My Soup Maker?
Morphy Richards UK does not offer a repair service for Soup Makers or other small kitchen appliances.
We cannot arrange a blade replacement or repair through an authorised repair agent.
If your Soup Maker has developed a fault, the available resolution will depend on the circumstances, including the nature of the fault, the appliance's warranty status and where it was purchased.
If your Soup Maker is within warranty
Our Customer Support team can help assess the issue and advise on the appropriate next steps.
For appliances purchased from another retailer, the retailer may be responsible for providing the appropriate remedy under your purchase agreement.
If your Soup Maker is outside warranty
Unfortunately, we cannot supply replacement blades or arrange a paid blade repair.
If the blades or blending mechanism have failed and the appliance is no longer covered by warranty, replacement of the appliance may be necessary.
How Can I Look After My Soup Maker Blades?
Regular cleaning and correct ingredient preparation can help maintain the performance of your Soup Maker.
We recommend:
- Cutting ingredients into suitable pieces: Avoid placing excessively large or hard ingredients into the jug.
- Adding sufficient liquid: Follow the appropriate minimum and maximum fill levels.
- Using frozen ingredients appropriately: Follow the guidance for your model and avoid large solid frozen blocks.
- Cleaning after every use: Prevent food from drying around the blades.
- Avoiding hard utensils: Don't use knives or metal tools to scrape around the blades.
- Handling blades carefully: They remain sharp even when the appliance is unplugged.
- Keeping electrical components dry: Never immerse the powered components in water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy a replacement blade from Morphy Richards?
No. We do not supply replacement Soup Maker blades or blade assemblies separately.
Can I remove the blades to clean them?
No. Fixed blades should not be removed for cleaning. Clean carefully around the blades while the appliance is switched off, unplugged and cool.
Can I use a third-party replacement blade?
We do not recommend fitting third-party blades or attempting to modify the original blade assembly. Compatibility and safety cannot be assured.
Why do the blades stop and start during cooking?
Some cooking programmes blend intermittently rather than continuously. This can be normal, depending on the selected programme.
Why isn't my Chunky soup blending?
The Chunky programme is intended to retain pieces of vegetables rather than produce a completely smooth soup. Blade operation differs from the Smooth programme.
Can I continue using the Soup Maker if a blade is slightly bent?
No. Stop using the appliance if any blade is bent, loose, cracked or damaged.
Can Morphy Richards replace the whole Soup Maker under warranty?
If the appliance has developed a fault covered by the applicable warranty, an appropriate resolution may be available following assessment. This is not an automatic entitlement to a replacement.
