Your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) has three operating modes: Low, High and Rapid Suction.
Choosing the right mode and using steady forward and backward passes helps you wash the floor and collect the water left behind.
Low mode: everyday cleaning
The cleaner starts in Low mode when you switch it on.
Use this as your starting setting for routine cleaning. Move steadily forwards, then backwards along the same strip of floor before moving to the next area.
High mode: stubborn dirt and stains
Press the Mode button once from Low to select High mode.
Use High for more stubborn dirt or stains. Make additional controlled passes over the affected area if needed, keeping the cleaner moving.
Do not leave the roller running in one place, as this could damage the floor. Avoid adding extra detergent to tackle a stubborn mark—follow the cleaning solution’s dosing instructions.
Rapid Suction mode: collecting water
Press the Mode button again from High to select Rapid Suction mode.
Use this mode to help collect water from the floor, particularly on the backward pass over a strip you have just washed.
If excess water remains, make another steady pass using Rapid Suction. Avoid moving straight to a new section without returning over the area you have cleaned.
How to switch between modes
With the charger disconnected and the handle tilted into the working position:
- Press the On/Off button. The cleaner starts in Low mode.
- Press Mode to select High.
- Press Mode again to select Rapid Suction.
- Press Mode again to return to Low.
Each press cycles through the settings in this order:
Low → High → Rapid Suction → Low
Which mode should I use?
| Cleaning task | Suggested mode |
|---|---|
| Routine floor washing | Start with Low |
| More stubborn dirt or stains | High |
| Collecting water on the return pass | Rapid Suction |
| Making an additional pass over excess water | Rapid Suction |
Use only on flooring suitable for wet cleaning, following your flooring manufacturer’s care guidance.
Does High mode replace the backward pass?
No. Regardless of the washing mode you select, pull the cleaner backwards over the same strip before moving on.
High mode helps with stubborn dirt, while your cleaning technique also affects how evenly the floor is cleaned and how much water remains.

What if Rapid Suction leaves water behind?
Check that:
- The dirty water tank has been emptied.
- The filters are clean and correctly fitted.
- The sponge filter is fully dry after washing.
- The roller and cover are securely fitted.
- The accessible inlet and elbow connection are clear of debris.
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing components.
Follow our guide: My floor cleaner isn’t picking up water or is leaving the floor too wet.
Is self-cleaning another operating mode?
Self-cleaning is a separate function used while the cleaner is switched off, upright in the park position and on its storage base.
To start it, press and hold the Mode button for approximately three seconds. The cycle takes approximately one minute.
See How to use the self-clean function for preparation and after-care instructions.
