If the roller on your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) isn’t rotating, follow the checks below.
Hair, threads or trapped debris can restrict the roller’s movement. Checking its condition and fitting can help restore normal operation.
1. Check that the cleaner is in the working position
The cleaner will not start normal floor cleaning while locked in the upright park position.
Disconnect the charger, gently tilt the handle backwards into the working position and press the On/Off button.
If the whole cleaner fails to start, see our guide: My floor cleaner won’t switch on.
Switch the cleaner off before inspecting the roller. Never touch the roller or try to turn it by hand while the appliance is running.
2. Remove hair, threads and trapped debris
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger.
- Place the cleaner in the upright park position with the cleaning head facing you.
- Pull the roller-cover release lever forwards and remove the cover.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Remove any hair, threads or debris wrapped around it, including around its ends.
- Check the exposed roller compartment for trapped debris and gently clear anything accessible.
Do not force tools into the roller mechanism or dismantle the cleaning head.
3. Clean the roller and cover
Wash the removed roller and cover under running water to clear dirt and residue.
Do not immerse the cleaning head or cleaner body in water. Avoid sharp tools, abrasive materials or solvents when cleaning.
If you are storing the cleaner after cleaning, allow the roller to dry before refitting.
4. Refit the roller securely
An incorrectly seated roller may not engage properly.
- Insert the end of the roller without the lever first.
- Press the lever end down until it snaps into position.
- Align both sides of the roller cover with the slots on the cleaning head.
- Press the cover down until it clicks into place.
Do not force the roller or cover. If either will not fit securely, remove it and check for debris or incorrect alignment.
5. Test the cleaner again
With the roller and cover correctly fitted:
- Disconnect the charger.
- Tilt the handle into the working position.
- Switch the cleaner on and make a short cleaning pass.
- Check whether normal roller operation has resumed.
Keep hands, hair, clothing and tools away from the cleaning head while it is running. Do not test normal floor cleaning with the roller cover removed.
If the roller remains stationary, or you hear grinding or repeated clicking, switch the cleaner off and contact our Customer Support team.
If the cleaner also stops or cuts out
If the whole appliance switches off, follow our guide: My floor cleaner keeps stopping or cutting out.
Avoid repeatedly restarting the cleaner if the roller appears jammed.
Still not turning?
Contact our Customer Support team and include:
- Your model number and purchase details.
- Whether the cleaner switches on and suction can be heard.
- Whether the roller stays still, turns intermittently or stops during use.
- Any unusual noise or message on the display.
- The checks you have completed.
- Photographs of the removed roller, both roller ends and the roller compartment, taken with the cleaner switched off.
If possible, include a short video showing the issue with the roller and cover fitted. Do not recreate the problem if there is a burning smell, smoke or visible electrical damage.
We’ll review the information and advise on the next steps.
