Get the best results from your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) with steady cleaning passes, the right mode and regular after-use care.
The backward pass matters: return over the same strip you have just washed to help collect dirty water before moving to the next area.
1. Prepare the floor and cleaner
Before you begin:
- Check that your flooring is suitable for wet cleaning and follow its manufacturer’s care instructions.
- Remove cables, loose objects and large debris from the area.
- Check that the roller, cover, tanks and filters are clean and correctly fitted.
- Fill the clean water tank as directed in the user manual. Do not use hot water.
- If using cleaning solution, follow the recommended dosing instructions.
- Check the battery charge and disconnect the charger before use.
Plan your route so you can finish near the exit without walking over the freshly cleaned floor.
2. Tilt the handle into the working position
Place one foot on the floor-cleaning head to hold it steady, then gently tilt the handle backwards.
Press the On/Off button to start. The cleaner starts in Low mode.
Normal floor cleaning will not start while the handle is locked in the upright park position.
3. Clean using steady forward and backward passes
Avoid fast, short vacuuming strokes. Give the cleaner time to work across each section of floor.
- Push the cleaner forwards in a steady, even movement.
- Pull it backwards along the same strip of floor.
- Slightly overlap the next strip.
- Repeat across the room.
Keep the cleaning head in contact with the floor and guide it smoothly. Avoid moving straight to a new area after the forward pass, as this can leave water behind.
4. Choose the mode for the task
Press the Mode button to cycle through the settings:
- Low: the default setting for everyday cleaning.
- High: for more stubborn dirt or stains.
- Rapid Suction: to help collect water from the floor.
For stubborn patches, use High mode and make additional controlled passes as needed.
On the return pass, select Rapid Suction mode to help collect remaining water. If the floor still looks unusually wet, make another steady pass in this mode.
5. Work in overlapping strips
Slightly overlapping your passes helps avoid missed areas and an uneven finish.
Work methodically across the floor rather than moving between unrelated patches. Walk to the side of the cleaner and avoid stepping onto wet sections.
Let the floor dry before walking over it or replacing items.
6. Keep an eye on the dirty water tank
Check the tank during cleaning and empty it when it reaches the MAX mark.
Switch the cleaner off before removing either water tank. Place it upright on its storage base while emptying or refilling.
If water pick-up becomes poor, check the dirty water tank, filters and accessible inlet before continuing.
See our guide: My floor cleaner isn’t picking up water or is leaving the floor too wet.
7. Pause and park the cleaner correctly
When taking a break:
- Switch the cleaner off.
- Return the handle to the upright park position.
- Place the cleaner on its storage base.
Do not leave the roller running while the cleaner is stationary, as this could damage the floor. Never leave the appliance running unattended.
8. Clean the appliance after use
After your cleaning session:
- Run the self-clean cycle following the instructions in How to use the self-clean function.
- Empty and rinse the dirty water tank.
- Remove remaining hair or debris from the roller and cover.
- Clean the filters as needed and let the sponge filter dry fully before refitting.
- Empty leftover water or solution before storage.
- Allow the roller to dry before refitting if you are storing the cleaner.
See How to clean the roller, tanks and filters for the full care routine.
Tips for a more even finish
- Use steady movements: rushing can leave excess water or missed patches.
- Return over the same strip: include both a forward and backward pass.
- Measure cleaning solution carefully: extra detergent can leave residue and create foam.
- Keep the roller clean: a dirty roller can transfer residue back onto the floor.
- Collect remaining water: use Rapid Suction mode where needed.
- Avoid wet footprints: plan your route and stay off freshly cleaned areas.
If marks remain once the floor is dry, see: My floor cleaner is leaving streaks or marks.
