Regular cleaning helps your Morphy Richards MRX Complete Pro Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner (model 740002) maintain good cleaning performance and water pick-up. It also helps prevent residue, blockages and unpleasant smells.
Clean the roller and cover after each use, empty the dirty water tank and check the filters for trapped debris.
Before you start
Switch the cleaner off and disconnect it from the charger before removing components or carrying out maintenance.
- Place the cleaner upright in the park position.
- Never immerse the cleaner body, charger or electrical components in water.
- Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaning products, hard brushes, metallic or sharp objects.
- Keep water away from electrical connections.
1. Remove and clean the roller
- With the floor-cleaning head facing you, pull the roller-cover release lever forwards and remove the cover.
- Lift the lever at the left-hand end of the roller and remove the roller.
- Gently remove hair, threads and trapped debris, including around the roller ends.
- Wash the roller under running water until visible dirt and residue have been removed.
If you are storing the cleaner after cleaning, allow the roller to dry before refitting.
2. Clean the roller cover and compartment
Wash the removed roller cover under running water, clearing any dirt from its accessible surfaces.
Check the exposed roller compartment and suction inlet for trapped debris. Use the supplied cleaning brush where it can reach, without forcing it into openings or pushing debris further inside.
Wipe accessible surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not pour water into the cleaning head or rinse the cleaner body under a tap.
If a blockage is out of reach, contact our Customer Support team for guidance.
3. Empty and clean the dirty water tank
Empty the dirty water tank after each cleaning session and whenever it reaches the MAX mark during use.
- Press the dirty water tank release button and pull the tank away from the cleaner.
- Remove the tank lid and filter assembly.
- Pour away the dirty water.
- Rinse the tank thoroughly with warm water.
- Use the supplied cleaning brush to remove deposits from inside the tank.
- Clean the lid and check that the float is free from debris and moves freely.
Remove any film or deposits from the tank surfaces and wipe them dry. Avoid leaving dirty water in the tank between uses.
4. Clean the mesh and sponge filters
With the dirty water tank lid and filter assembly removed:
- Rinse the mesh filter with clean water.
- Remove the sponge filter from its holder.
- Gently clear any attached dirt or debris.
- Rinse the sponge filter thoroughly with clean water.
- Allow the sponge filter to dry fully before reassembling.
Do not operate the cleaner with its filters removed or refit a wet sponge filter. Check for damage before refitting and contact us if a filter needs replacing.
5. Rinse the clean water tank
- Remove the clean water tank and open its cap.
- Empty any remaining water or cleaning solution.
- Rinse the inside with clean water. Do not use hot water.
- Check the cap and outlet valve area for visible residue or debris.
- Wipe the outside dry.
For a blocked or stuck valve, follow our guide: My floor cleaner isn’t releasing water or the roller stays dry.
Do not fill the clean water tank with household chemicals or cleaning mixtures to flush the appliance.
6. Reassemble the cleaner
Once the components are clean and the sponge filter is fully dry:
- Reassemble the filters and dirty water tank lid.
- Insert the bottom of the dirty water tank first, then press its upper section into place until it clicks.
- Close the clean water tank cap securely and refit the tank.
- Insert the roller end without the lever first, then press the lever end down until it snaps into position.
- Align the roller cover with the slots on the cleaning head and press it down until it clicks.
Check that all components are secure before using the cleaner.
7. Clean the storage base and store the appliance
Wipe any water or residue from the storage base and dry it.
Store the cleaner upright on its base in a dry location, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Make sure the tanks are empty and removable parts have been cleaned and dried before longer periods of storage.
Does self-cleaning replace manual cleaning?
The self-clean function helps with routine care, but hair, threads and stubborn dirt may still need to be removed manually.
After self-cleaning, empty and rinse the dirty water tank and inspect the roller, cover and filters.
For instructions, see: How to use the self-clean function.
When should I check for blockages?
Check the accessible inlet and roller compartment if you notice:
- Reduced water pick-up.
- Excess water left on the floor.
- An unusual noise.
- The roller struggling to turn.
- The cleaner stopping during use.
Always switch the cleaner off before inspecting it.
