If your Morphy Richards HydroTouch Water Dispenser (model 130002) is not dispensing water, has slow water flow, displays an error code or is not operating as expected, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Many issues can be resolved by checking the water level, filter installation, control settings or routine maintenance.
Why Is My HydroTouch Not Dispensing Water?
If no water comes out when you press the dispense button:
- Check that the water tank contains sufficient water. The filtered water level must reach the MIN marking before dispensing.
- Ensure the water tank and filter cartridge hopper are correctly assembled.
- Press and hold the Power On/Off button for approximately 3 seconds to switch the appliance on.
- Select a dispensing volume of 100 ml, 200 ml or 300 ml using the volume increase or decrease buttons.
- Select the required temperature using the temperature dial.
- Press the water dispense button and allow a few seconds for the heating process to complete.
The appliance may not dispense water immediately because it needs time to heat the selected quantity. This delay does not automatically indicate a fault.
If the display shows an error code, follow the relevant error-code instructions below.
Why Is My HydroTouch Dispensing Water Slowly?
Slow or intermittent water flow may be associated with the water filter or insufficient water in the tank.
Check that:
- The water level is above the MIN marking.
- The water filter cartridge is correctly fitted into its hopper.
- A newly installed filter has been prepared according to its manufacturer's instructions.
- The filter is not overdue for replacement.
- The water tank and hopper are correctly assembled.
If the filter is old or its flow has reduced, replace it with a compatible cartridge.
What Do the HydroTouch Error Codes Mean?
Err 01 – Water Tank Empty
Err 01 means the water tank is empty.
The dispense button indicator and temperature indicators may flash alternately.
Refill the water tank so the filtered water reaches the MIN marking before attempting to dispense again.
Do not exceed the maximum water level.
Err 02 – Appliance Error
Err 02 requires Customer Support assistance.
The temperature indicators flash and the control buttons become unavailable.
Switch off and unplug the appliance. Do not attempt to dismantle or repair it.
Contact Morphy Richards Customer Support with your model number, serial number and a photograph of the displayed error.
Err 03 – Boil-Dry Protection Activated
Err 03 indicates that the appliance has entered boil-dry protection mode.
To reset:
- Switch off and unplug the appliance.
- Allow it to cool for approximately 30 minutes.
- Check that there is sufficient water in the tank.
- Reconnect the appliance and try again.
If Err 03 continues to appear after completing these steps, contact Customer Support.
Why Is My HydroTouch Not Switching On?
If the appliance has no power:
- Check that the plug is securely connected.
- Test the socket using another appliance.
- Try a different working socket.
- Press and hold the Power On/Off button for approximately 3 seconds.
- Check the power cable and plug for visible damage.
If the socket works but the appliance remains unresponsive, further assessment may be required.
Do not use the appliance if the plug or power cable is damaged.
How Do I Select the Water Temperature and Dispensing Volume?
The HydroTouch 130002 has four temperature settings:
- 40°C
- 60°C
- 80°C
- 99°C
Turn the temperature selection dial to choose the required setting.
Use the volume increase and decrease buttons to select:
- 100 ml
- 200 ml
- 300 ml
The selected temperature and volume are displayed on the appliance.
Water may take a few seconds to heat before dispensing begins.
Which Water Filters Are Compatible With My HydroTouch?
The HydroTouch 130002 uses a replaceable water filter cartridge.
Compatible filters listed in the user manual include:
- BRITA MAXTRA PRO
- LAICA Bi-Flux
Morphy Richards does not currently supply replacement filter cartridges for this model. Compatible alternatives can be purchased from supermarkets and other retailers.
Always follow the filter manufacturer's instructions for preparation, installation and replacement.
An incorrectly fitted or exhausted filter can affect water flow and performance.
How Do I Prepare a New Water Filter?
For the original supplied filter:
- Remove the cartridge from its packaging.
- Place it in a jug of water for 15 minutes.
- Fit it securely into the filter cartridge hopper.
- Allow water to pass through the filter into the tank.
Small black particles of activated carbon may appear in the soaking water. This can be normal for carbon filters.
For replacement cartridges, follow the preparation instructions supplied by the filter manufacturer.
Before making your first drink with a new appliance, dispense and discard two 300 ml portions of water at 99°C to flush the internal pipes.
Why Does My HydroTouch Water Taste or Smell Unusual?
An unusual taste or smell may be associated with the filter, water supply or water left standing in the tank.
To maintain water quality:
- Replace the filter according to its manufacturer's instructions.
- Prepare new filters correctly before installation.
- Empty and refill the tank with fresh water regularly.
- Clean the water tank and filter hopper.
- Avoid leaving filtered water standing unnecessarily.
If the appliance has not been used for more than two days, dispense and discard 300 ml of water at 99°C before preparing a drink.
Why Is My HydroTouch Leaking or Dripping?
If water appears around the appliance, check whether:
- The water tank has been overfilled.
- The tank and filter hopper are correctly assembled.
- The filter cartridge is securely fitted.
- The drip tray needs emptying.
- Water has been spilled during filling or removal of the tank.
The maximum water capacity stated in the user manual is 1.8 litres. Do not fill above the MAX marking.
If water appears to be leaking from the appliance itself rather than from filling or normal dispensing, unplug it and stop using it until the cause has been assessed.
How Do I Clean My HydroTouch Water Dispenser?
Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Wash the removable water tank, tank lid, filter cartridge hopper, drip tray and drip tray grid in warm soapy water.
- Rinse and dry these parts thoroughly before reassembly.
- Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a soft, damp cloth.
- Replace the water filter according to the cartridge manufacturer's recommendations.
Do not immerse the main unit in water or use abrasive cleaning products.
