(303250 & 303251)
If your Morphy Richards Cordless Steam Iron isn’t producing steam or the steam performance seems weak, this is usually caused by temperature settings, insufficient water, or limescale build-up. Follow this guide to get consistent steam and restore optimal performance.
💧 Step 1: Check the Water Level
Ensure the water tank is filled to at least the minimum level.
Do not overfill beyond the MAX line. Overfilling can cause leaks.
-
Always use distilled, demineralised, or deionised water.
Using untreated tap water, especially in hard water areas, can cause limescale deposits, reducing steam output.
Tip: Fill the tank at a 45º angle (303251) to avoid spilling around the filler cap.
🌡 Step 2: Verify Temperature Settings
Steam only activates when the iron reaches the correct temperature.
For 303251, steam is produced only within the steam quadrant on the temperature dial (typically 3 dots or higher).
Steam boost may work at lower settings for a short burst, but constant steam will not activate.
Allow the iron to fully heat — the temperature indicator will cycle red → green twice before the iron is ready.
Common mistake: trying to steam on low heat or immediately after plugging in will result in no steam or weak steam.
🔄 Step 3: Return the Iron to the Base Frequently
As a cordless iron, heat drops whenever the iron is lifted off the base.
-
To maintain steam performance:
Return the iron to the base every few seconds, especially when moving between garments.
Tip: Start with cool fabrics and gradually increase to higher settings to save time and energy.
🧼 Step 4: Perform a Self-Clean
Limescale build-up inside the steam chamber and vents can block steam output.
-
To run a full self-clean cycle:
Fill the water tank to MAX.
Set the temperature dial to MAX.
Place the iron on the base and wait for it to reach temperature.
Hold the iron over a sink (soleplate away from hands).
Press and hold the self-clean button while gently moving the iron back and forth until the tank empties.
Allow the iron to cool, then wipe the soleplate and base clean.
Tip: Perform self-cleaning regularly, especially if using tap water occasionally.
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
Trying to use steam at low temperature settings.
Overfilling the tank or leaving the filler cap loose.
Skipping regular self-clean cycles in hard water areas.
Leaving the iron idle off the base for long periods.
