Regular self-cleaning is essential to keep your Morphy Richards Cordless Steam Iron working at its best. It helps prevent:
Limescale build-up
White powder or mineral residue from the soleplate
Poor steam performance
Dripping or leaking
Performing the self-clean process every 4–6 weeks (or more often in hard water areas) ensures your iron lasts longer and maintains optimal performance.
🔹 When to Self-Clean
Steam output is reduced or inconsistent
White powder appears from the soleplate
Dripping or water leaks occur even when using the correct settings
After every 40–50 hours of ironing, as routine maintenance
🔹 Step-by-Step Self-Cleaning Guide
-
Fill the water tank
Fill to the MAX line with distilled, deionised, or demineralised water.
Do not use tap water or water with additives.
-
Set the iron to OFF for steam
Ensure the steam switch is turned off.
-
Place the iron on the charging base
Plug in the base and allow the iron to heat to the MAX setting.
Wait until the temperature indicator light turns green.
-
Activate self-clean
Hold the iron horizontally over a sink.
Press and hold the self-clean button until the water tank empties completely.
Steam and boiling water will flush out limescale and mineral deposits from the vents.
Keep hands and body away from the soleplate during this step.
-
Dry the soleplate
Place the iron back on the charging base and allow it to heat briefly to dry the soleplate.
Wipe with a cold, damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.
-
Empty remaining water
Remove any leftover water from the tank before storing the iron.
🔹 Tips for Maintaining a Clean Iron
Avoid leaving water in the tank between uses.
Perform self-cleaning more often in hard water areas.
Regular cleaning reduces dripping, white powder, and poor steam performance.
⚠️ Important Notes
Do not use descaling chemicals or harsh solutions on the soleplate.
Limescale issues caused by hard water are not covered under warranty, but regular self-cleaning keeps your iron in top condition.
Always unplug the iron before starting any cleaning outside of the self-clean cycle.
